Tick activity is at its strongest beginning in March when the temperatures begin to warm up; and although we are only in January, it's important to still care about ticks in winter.

Deer ticks 'come alive' when temperatures reach above freezing; and as the weather continues to play games, the risk of a tick bite and Lyme Disease transmission remains a concern. 

These are the top Canadian provinces where ticks have been spotted:

1) Southern British Columbia
2) Southeastern and South-central Manitoba
3) Southern Quebec
4) Southern, Eastern and Western Ontario
5) Parts of Nova Scotia
6) Southern New Brunswick and Grand Manan Island

For the adventurous types, hikers and campers should continue to watch for ticks and know how to remove a tick if bitten. Although not all ticks carry Lyme Disease, individuals bit by a tick should take the tick for evaluation and test for Lyme Disease.
