It's National Gardening Month
Apr 2nd 2018
April showers brings May flowers; and that's why April is National Gardening Month, a time for gardeners to get outside and start planting spring flowers.
There are many plants to sow and grow in April including:
- Carrots
- Cauliflower
- Lettuce
- Peas
- Onions
- Spinach
- Basil
- and much more!
DeerbustersCanada encourages gardeners across Canada to get involved in gardening events this April. Join a garden club and meet local gardeners or work in a community garden.
Because April is the best month for spring gardening, home growers should consider installing a 7.5-8' foot high deer fence around flowerbeds to keep deer away from plants. The above list of plants are liked by deer, rabbits and other small critters; and that is why planting deer-resistant flowers is best as a secondary barrier. Plants for deer resistance include: daffodils, marigolds, sage, aster and peonies.
