Coyote Management In Canada
Feb 19th 2020
Coyotes are widespread across Canada and cause damage to lawns and gardens. What's worse, they have been known to cause vicious attacks on children and small domestic pets including dogs, cats and backyard chickens.
Coyote breeding season begins in late December and January and runs until March. Coyote pups enter into the world in April where they will stay with their parents until "adulthood" in the wintertime. This is when they go off to fend for themselves.
Home growers, pet owners and chicken owners alike that wish to keep away coyotes from landscapes can do so with a PVC-coated metal fence that is at least 6 feet high. Since coyotes chew, plastic fencing is not recommended for coyote management. Fence installation is the best strategy to keep coyotes at bay throughout the year.
